SBT will broadcast CONMEBOL Libertadores in Brazil
CONMEBOL has reached an agreement with one of the most important TV networks in Brazil, Brazilian Television System (SBT), for the transfer of transmission rights from 2020 to 2022. The sale comes after Grupo Globo rescinded the rights contract, which was valid until 2022
We are pleased to present SBT as a new holder of CONMEBOL Libertadores TV rights for Brazil. This alliance will allow us to bring the emotion of La Gloria Eterna to more fans in Brazil”, said Juan Emilio Roa, Commercial Director of CONMEBOL.
“It is very good to be able to announce this partnership. We know that football is the most popular sport in Brazil and, as we are also a popular TV, nothing better than being able to return to national broadcasts with a tournament like CONMEBOL Libertadores. We hope to live up to the expectations of football fans and all those who support SBT”, said José Roberto dos Santos Maciel – CEO of SBT.
The satisfaction agreement of both sides with SBT guarantees the access of the huge Brazilian sports fans to the matches of the most important club tournament on the continent.
The schedule of the CONMEBOL Libertadores group stage would start next week. SBT on September 16 will broadcast the first two games between Universidad Católica vs Gremio and Bolivar vs Palmeiras.
