DHL, new CONMEBOL Sudamericana official sponsor and CONMEBOL Libertadores official logistics partner
The global leader in logistics joins prestigious global brands with an agreement that runs until December 2022
The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) and DHL have reached an agreement for the global leader in logistics to become Official Sponsor of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana and Official Logistics Partner of the CONMEBOL Libertadores. The deal runs for the next two seasons until December 2022.
Thus, DHL joins prestigious global brands such as Amstel, Betfair, Bridgestone, EA SPORTS, MG Motor, PayRetailers and Qatar Airways that, as CONMEBOL Sudamericana Official Sponsors, already partner with CONMEBOL in its club competitions and in the evolution and development of all South American football.
“We are pleased to present DHL as new official sponsor of CONMEBOL Sudamericana, a tournament that in recent years has been increasing its competitiveness and sports and commercial quality, as well as Official Logistics Partner of the CONMEBOL Libertadores. This alliance will help us to continue exposing our brand around the world and reach out to other areas”, said Juan Emilio Roa, Commercial Director of CONMEBOL.
With 400,000 employees and offices in more than 220 countries and territories, DHL is the world’s largest logistics company with an established presence in South America. DHL is composed by independent divisions that are connected by the same core values and a common management approach. As such, it offers a wide range of products, solutions and services to suit the logistics needs.
Thanks to this alliance with CONMEBOL, DHL becomes the Official Logistics Partner of the CONMEBOL Libertadores, the most important and prestigious club competitions on South America.
“We are very proud to join the two most important club tournaments in South America for two years running, through which we share common values such as internationality, speed, passion, and tenacity to always deliver excellence,” said Joakim Thrane, CEO of DHL Express Central and South America.
The CONMEBOL Sudamericana has a new format starting this season that includes a Group Phase and increases the number of total matches, which goes from 105 to 157.
In CONMEBOL’s commitment to return to South American football what it generates, the amount to be awarded to competing clubs in the different phases of the tournament with a new format also increases from USD 47,200,000 to USD 58,960,000, which represents an increase of 25% compared to 2020.
